COACH DON JAMES

Don James has the most wins as coach of the Huskies in UW history. His record: 153-56-2 over 18 seasons. He produced 16 consecutive winning seasons. And 17 of 18 UW teams finished in the upper division of the conference race. 13 of those teams finished first or second.

Before the UW, James coached at Kent State 1971-1974, engineering that football teams first ever bowl game appearance. As a college quarterback at the University of Miami in 1954, he won the prestigious Optner Trophy for top scholar-athlete.
