Arnold Palmer
A Golfing Legend
No other golfer in the history of golf has captivated spectators, fans, and people of all ages and backgrounds like Arnold Palmer. His unique combination of tremendous skill, flair for the dramatic, and down-to-earth common touch made him one of the most popular athletes world-wide. The global popularity of golf is easily traced to Arnold Palmer’s achievements and dedication to the sport and it’s fans.
The saga of Arnold Palmer began when he was four years old, swinging a set of golf clubs cut down by his father. Starting with his stirring victory in the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1954, Arnie amassed a staggering 92 victories, including four Masters jackets, two British Open crowns, and a U.S. Open title. Palmer also finished first on the Senior PGA Tour ten times. A charter member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Arnie is also a member of the American Golf Hall of Fame and PGA Hall of Fame.
Besides this magnificent performance record, Arnie’s magnetic personality and unfailing sense of kindness have endeared him to the millions of fans around the world. Known affectionately to his fellow professionals as “The King,” Palmer’s popularity has led to the informal formation of one of the largest non-uniformed “military” organizations in the world - Arnie’s Army.
